To cancel Screen Studio, go to Lemon Squeezy’s My Orders page, not the app. On screen.studio, open the Account menu and click Manage subscription. That link goes to Lemon Squeezy, the company that bills for Screen Studio. Sign in with the email address you paid with, open your Screen Studio subscription and cancel it. Your plan keeps working until the end of the term you paid for, and Screen Studio’s terms say fees are non-refundable.
Checked on screen.studio on 27 October 2026. If the subscription itself is why you’re leaving, the best Screen Studio alternatives compares the other Mac recorders with automatic zoom, and the last section below covers the pay-once option we make.

How to cancel a Screen Studio subscription, step by step
Screen Studio has no cancel guide of its own today: its help page at the cancel address shows “Page not found”. The steps below follow the links on Screen Studio’s site and the help pages of Lemon Squeezy, which runs its billing.
- Open the Manage subscription link. On screen.studio, open the Account menu at the top of the page and click Manage subscription. The same link sits in the site footer under Account, and the pricing FAQ “Where can I manage my subscription?” points to it. All three go to app.lemonsqueezy.com/my-orders.
- Sign in with the email you paid with. Lemon Squeezy’s help pages say you need only the email you used at checkout. It sends a sign-in link to that address, and clicking it logs you in. Use the address on your Screen Studio receipt, which may not be the one you use every day.
- Open your Screen Studio subscription. Once you’re signed in, Lemon Squeezy lists every order and subscription you have bought from any store it runs, so look for the one from Screen Studio.
- Cancel it. Lemon Squeezy’s help pages put the cancel option in its Customer Portal, the billing page where a store’s subscribers can cancel, resume or change a subscription. For Screen Studio’s store, that page is screenstudio.lemonsqueezy.com/billing, and it signs you in by email the same way. We did not walk through these screens with a live Screen Studio subscription, so the route from My Orders and the button names may differ from this description.
- If you can’t find it, email Screen Studio. Its terms give team@screen.studio for “any questions regarding subscription, cancellation or otherwise regarding the fees charged by Screen Studio”.
Two places that look right but aren’t:
- The Screen Studio dashboard (Account > Manage your account) is where you log in to reset a license and disconnect a Mac (the Device tab), and where your shareable links are listed. Screen Studio’s license guide doesn’t describe a cancel button there.
- The app. Screen Studio’s guide covers activating the app with your purchase email, not cancelling from it.
Cancel before the renewal date. Screen Studio’s terms say a plan renews automatically “at the same annual rate and for the same term” unless you cancel before the renewal starts. On the yearly plan, that is a $108 charge (plus any tax, which the terms add on top) if you miss the date by a day.
What happens after you cancel Screen Studio
You keep the plan until the end of the term. Screen Studio’s terms say “the cancellation will be effective at the end of the then-current subscription term”. A monthly plan runs to the end of that month; a yearly plan runs to the end of that year.
There is no refund. The same section says “Fees are non-refundable”, and that Screen Studio will have no liability for refunding fees already charged or paid. Cancelling early saves you the next renewal, not the current one. The terms quoted here were last updated on 4 September 2025.
The app keeps working, but export stops. Screen Studio’s download page says that “if you don’t have an active plan, you can still use all the features except for exporting video files.” You can still open, record and edit; you can’t produce a new video file.
Your files stay on your Mac. Screen Studio says recordings and projects are “saved on your Mac, wherever you keep them”, and exported videos are ordinary files in the folder you picked. Cancelling doesn’t remove them.
Share links: Screen Studio doesn’t say. Shareable links are videos uploaded to Screen Studio’s servers, listed in the dashboard’s Shareable Links tab. None of the pages we read says what happens to them when a plan ends. Assume you may lose them, and keep a file copy of any you need.
An old lifetime license is different. If you bought a one-time license before Screen Studio stopped selling them, there is no subscription to cancel. Screen Studio says those licenses are still valid.
Before your last day: what to export
Do these while your plan is still active, because export is the part that stops:
- Export every finished video you’ll still need. Export to a file, as MP4 for most uses.
- Re-export videos you only ever shared as a link. A link may not survive the end of your plan, and a file will.
- Pull out the raw tracks of projects you might re-edit somewhere else. Screen Studio’s guide puts Extract raw recording files in the Export menu of the editor. It saves the original screen, camera and microphone tracks as separate files. Its guide doesn’t say whether this works without a plan, so do it first.
- Write down the date your term ends. That’s the last day you can export.
Pay less without leaving
If the price is the problem and the app is not, there are two cheaper ways to stay, both listed by Screen Studio on 27 October 2026:
- Switch from monthly to yearly. Monthly is $29 a month ($348 a year). Yearly is $9 a month billed yearly ($108 a year), which Screen Studio labels “Save 69%”. Its terms say an upgrade or downgrade during a yearly plan is prorated for the days left.
- The education discount. Students and educators get 40% off. The Screen Studio discount code guide covers how to request it, and why the codes on coupon sites aren’t Screen Studio’s.
What to switch to
Most people who search for this are leaving because of the subscription, not the app. If that’s you, here is what the alternatives cost and what they can’t do. The Screen Studio pricing page has the feature-by-feature comparison.
CursorClip is $70 once, less than one year of Screen Studio’s yearly plan ($108). We make it. It is a native Mac screen recorder that zooms in on your clicks as you record, with your camera, mic and system audio, and it runs on up to 3 Macs per license.
| How long you record | Screen Studio yearly | Screen Studio monthly | CursorClip lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 year | $108 | $348 | $70 once |
| 2 years | $216 | $696 | $70 once |
| 3 years | $324 | $1,044 | $70 once |
| 5 years | $540 | $1,740 | $70 once |
Over five years, against Screen Studio’s yearly plan, you keep $470. Screen Studio prices are its listed rates, checked 27 October 2026. CursorClip’s price is in US dollars, and tax or VAT is added at checkout where it applies.
Free to record and edit. To export: from $9/month, or $70 once with no renewal, plus tax where applicable.
Free to record and edit. A license to export.
Know what you’re giving up before you switch:
- CursorClip can’t open your Screen Studio projects or import its videos. It only opens projects it recorded. Keep your Screen Studio exports as they are, and start new recordings in CursorClip.
- No share links or captions yet. You export a file and share it yourself. Share links arrive in the next release, and so do captions. Screen Studio has both today.
- Mac only, on macOS 13.5 or later. Screen Studio is Mac only too.
- Try it before you pay. Recording and editing are free, and a license unlocks export. Every plan has a 14-day money-back guarantee, which Screen Studio’s terms don’t offer.
Want a subscription you can cancel later instead? There are monthly and yearly CursorClip plans too, and the Screen Studio alternatives guide covers the other apps, including ones that cost less than CursorClip.
Frequently asked questions
How do I cancel my Screen Studio subscription?
On screen.studio, open the Account menu and click Manage subscription. It takes you to Lemon Squeezy’s My Orders page (app.lemonsqueezy.com/my-orders), because Lemon Squeezy handles Screen Studio’s billing. Sign in with the email address you paid with, open your Screen Studio subscription and cancel it there. Checked 27 October 2026.
Can I cancel Screen Studio inside the app or the Screen Studio dashboard?
Screen Studio’s own pages don’t describe a cancel option in the app. Its dashboard at screen.studio/dashboard is for license devices and shareable links. The Manage subscription link on Screen Studio’s site goes to Lemon Squeezy’s My Orders page instead. If you can’t find your subscription there, Screen Studio’s terms give team@screen.studio for questions about subscriptions and cancellation.
Does Screen Studio give refunds?
Its terms say no: “Fees are non-refundable”, and Screen Studio will have no liability for refunding fees already charged or paid (Master Subscription Agreement, last updated 4 September 2025, checked 27 October 2026). Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not return the current payment.
What happens when I cancel Screen Studio?
Your plan keeps working to the end of the term you already paid for, then it does not renew. After that, Screen Studio’s download page says you can still use all the features except exporting video files. Recordings and projects are saved on your Mac, and the videos you exported are ordinary files that stay where you saved them.
What happens to my Screen Studio share links after I cancel?
Screen Studio’s pages don’t say (checked 27 October 2026). Shareable links are videos uploaded to Screen Studio’s servers, so before your term ends, export a file copy of any linked video you want to keep.
I have an old Screen Studio lifetime license. Do I need to cancel anything?
No. A one-time license is not a subscription, so there is nothing that renews. Screen Studio says past one-time licenses are still valid, and that you can renew access to updates whenever you want the latest version.
What is a pay-once alternative to Screen Studio?
CursorClip is a native Mac screen recorder with automatic zoom for $70 once, which is less than one year of Screen Studio’s yearly plan ($108), on up to 3 Macs, with a 14-day money-back guarantee. It is free to record and edit, with a license to export. It can’t open Screen Studio projects, and it has no share links or captions today.
Screen Studio’s billing links, terms, prices and guide pages were read on screen.studio on 27 October 2026, and Lemon Squeezy’s My Orders help page on the same day. Screen Studio can change any of them, so check its site before you rely on a date.
