Screen Studio has no public discount code. On 6 October 2026 its site listed two ways to pay less: 40% off for students and educators, and the yearly plan ($108 a year instead of $348 on monthly). New buyers can’t get a lifetime license. If you would rather pay once, CursorClip is $70 once, on up to 3 Macs. Free to record and edit. A license to export.

Sources: the pricing section and FAQ on the Screen Studio homepage, its educational discount page, download page, affiliate page and terms of service, all read on 6 October 2026.
The education discount: 40% off
This is the one discount code Screen Studio’s own site offers. Its educational discount page says that if you have an email address from a university or other educational institution (one ending in .edu or .ac.jp, for example), you can get 40% off. Enter that address and Screen Studio sends you a discount code.
No school email? Screen Studio’s FAQ says you can send confirmation of your student status, such as a student ID, to its team by email, and it will send you a code.
The yearly plan: save $240 a year
Screen Studio costs $29 a month on the monthly plan, or $9 a month billed yearly, which is $108 a year. Over twelve months that is $348 against $108, a $240 saving, and Screen Studio’s pricing labels it “Save 69%”. Both plans include every feature. Its terms say annual plans are discounted and that a plan renews automatically at the same rate unless you cancel before the renewal.
The catch is that you pay $108 up front, and Screen Studio’s terms say fees are non-refundable.
Seasonal and promo codes
On 6 October 2026 we read Screen Studio’s homepage (pricing and FAQ), download page, educational discount page, affiliate page and terms. None of them lists a promo code, a coupon or a seasonal sale.
We don’t repeat codes that Screen Studio didn’t publish, because there is no way to know whether one works before you reach checkout. A “deal” link can also be an affiliate link. Screen Studio’s affiliate program pays the person sharing the link a 15% commission on the first purchase, and the page mentions no discount for the buyer. If Screen Studio announces a sale, its own site is the place to trust it.
What doesn’t exist
- A lifetime license for new buyers. Screen Studio’s FAQ says buying a one-time license “was possible in the past, but is no longer available for new purchases.” Past one-time licenses are still valid and can be renewed for updates. When the change happened, AlternativeTo reported on 1 October 2025 that the $229 one-time license had been removed.
- A free plan or a time-limited trial. The download is free, and Screen Studio’s download page says that without an active plan “you can still use all the features except for exporting video files.”
- Refunds. Screen Studio’s terms say “Fees are non-refundable.” You can cancel at any time, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current term.
- A Windows version. Screen Studio says it only supports macOS, with no near-future plans for Windows.
The full price breakdown, including what you pay over two, three and five years, is in our Screen Studio pricing guide.
If the price is the problem
Most people searching for a Screen Studio coupon like the app and dislike paying for it every year. If that’s you, paying once can save you more than a code would.
CursorClip is a Mac screen recorder with automatic zoom on your clicks. It costs $70 once, or $29 a year, and a license covers up to 3 Macs.
| Screen Studio yearly | Screen Studio monthly | CursorClip lifetime | |
|---|---|---|---|
| First year | $108 | $348 | $70 |
| Two years | $216 | $696 | $70 |
| Three years | $324 | $1,044 | $70 |
- Try it before paying. Recording and editing are free. A license unlocks export.
- Get your money back if it isn’t right. Every plan has a 14-day money-back guarantee.
- Native Swift. Screen Studio is built on Electron: its 4.0.3 update archive (posted 6 October 2026) contains Electron Framework and an app.asar bundle, which we checked on 6 October 2026.
Know the limits before you buy. CursorClip has no share links (you export a file and share it yourself) and no captions. It runs on Mac only (macOS 13.5 or later), and it can’t open videos it didn’t record. Screen Studio has share links, captions and video import, so if you need them, its yearly plan with the education discount is the cheapest way in.

Free to record and edit. A license to export. 14-day money-back guarantee on every plan.

Does Screen Studio have a student or education discount?
Yes, 40% off. Enter an email address from a university or other educational institution on Screen Studio’s educational discount page and it sends you a discount code. Without a school email, you can email proof of student status, such as a student ID, to Screen Studio’s team and it sends a code.
How much does Screen Studio cost?

Can I still buy a Screen Studio lifetime license?
No. Screen Studio says buying a one-time license was possible in the past but is no longer available for new purchases. Past one-time licenses are still valid. If you want to pay once, CursorClip is $70 one-time and covers up to 3 Macs.
Are the Screen Studio coupon codes on coupon sites real?
Screen Studio didn’t publish them, so there is no way to know whether they work before checkout. Its own site lists only the education discount and the yearly saving. A “deal” link can also be an affiliate link: Screen Studio’s affiliate program pays the person sharing the link 15% of the first purchase, and its affiliate page mentions no discount for the buyer.
Is there a Screen Studio free trial?
There is no time-limited trial. Screen Studio’s download page says that without an active plan you can use all the features except exporting video files. CursorClip works the same way: free to record and edit, with a license to export.
What is cheaper than Screen Studio with automatic zoom?
CursorClip is a native Mac screen recorder with automatic zoom for $70 one-time, or $29 a year, on up to 3 Macs. It is free to record and edit, a license unlocks export, and every plan has a 14-day money-back guarantee. It has no share links and no captions, and it only edits its own recordings.
